Izakaya

Ogikkubo is the best place to enjoy your time with frieds, family at Izakaya!

Yukitsubaki (雪つばき)

If I had only one evening to introduce a friend to the real Ogikubo, this is one of the places I'd choose.

Why This Place Matters

The chef trained at one of Kyoto's most respected kaiseki kitchens before opening this intimate counter in Ogikubo — bringing true kappo-level technique to a neighborhood restaurant that charges a fraction of what you'd pay in Ginza or Nishi-Azabu. Only eight seats at the counter. No large groups, no background music, no distractions. Just you, the chef, and whatever he decided to cook that morning based on what looked best at the market. This is the kind of place most visitors to Tokyo never find — not because it's hidden, but because it requires someone to point you there. That's exactly why it's here.

Atmosphere

Cozy counter seating, warm lighting, regular locals. Best for solo dining or an intimate evening with someone who appreciates real Japanese food.
